LOUISVILLE, KY – March 31, 2021 – This April, USA Cares is leading the charge in providing assistance to the homeless veteran community in Kentuckiana, and we’re inviting the Compassionate City to “Give a Day” and join us!

In coordination with Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer’s “Give a Day” month of service, USA Cares is hosting a care package drive now through April 30, 2021. USA Cares is currently collecting items to include in the care packages, seeking donations of the following items: soap, shampoo, deodorant, lip balm, socks, hairbrushes, combs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, antibacterial wipes, lotion, sunscreen, tissues and bandages.

During the month of April, USA Cares is accepting donated items at the following locations:

“Our hearts always go out to any veteran that is in need of a helping hand,” said Trace Chesser, President/CEO of USA Cares. “We’re proud to work alongside Mayor Fischer and make an effort to do whatever we can to help these men and women find a little relief during the 2021 ‘Give a Day’ month of service.”

After the close of the collection period, volunteers will pack donated items in bags which will be distributed to homeless veterans in the Kentuckiana region. For additional information about the care package drive, please visit our official event page online at http://bit.ly/carepackage21.

Since 2011, the Mayor’s Give a Day Week of Service (MGAD) has served as a campaign to inspire Louisville’s citizens to get active and commit selfless acts of compassion. Neighbors clean up streets and parks, collect goods for people in need, and repair homes. They read to students, mentor, assemble care packages – and much more. Though these good deeds happen in Louisville throughout the year, MGAD puts the needs and the benefits into stark focus, lifting citizens in need and setting a lasting tone of compassion for the entire city.
