USA Cares Welcomes Philip Scott to National Board of Directors
16 June

RADCLIFF, KY (June 16, 2017) – USA Cares, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports veterans and military families in crisis, is proud to announce that Mr. Philip Scott, Managing Partner of Scott Interest Limited Partnership (SILP) and veterans advocate, has been appointed to the organization’s national board of directors.

Scott is the former President and CEO of Scott Gross Company, a medical and industrial supply company with 33 locations in seven states. Additionally, Scott is the founder and former CEO of TICE, an industrial gas supply network with over 900 outlets nationwide. Currently, Scott serves as the Managing partner for Scott Interest Limited Partnership (SILP), owning and managing commercial real estate and is the owner of two Renegade Classics retail motor clothes outlets.

Coming from a family with a long line of military service, Scott garnered a strong respect for service members and the many sacrifices they make in the name of freedom. As the son of a Marine who served on Guadalcanal and the nephew of an Army soldier wounded during the Battle of the Bulge, it is no surprise that Scott is a patriot to his core. To show his gratitude to service members, veterans, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, Scott made it his mission to help support them in return.

“We need our heroes, and our veterans and active-duty service members are indeed heroes. It is insufficient for a citizen to assume that the federal government, the VA, or the state can meet the challenges that military service presents to these young families,” said Scott. “The thought process here is that there is an assumption that if you are in the military, you have signed some adequate contract with them where the government will meet your needs… that’s a misconception, and as American citizens and beneficiaries of the sacrifices service members make, it is our responsibility to give back and support them.”

“I have a great deal of respect for the talent and patriotism that Philip brings to our National Board,” said Hank Patton, Executive Director of USA Cares. “His passion and commitment to serving veterans will undoubtedly complement the work done by the driven, mission-focused board members currently serving our organization.”

In addition to his appointment to USA Cares’ Board of Directors, Scott has previously served as Board Chair of IWDC, an Indianapolis-based industrial purchasing cooperative with 150 member companies, and on the Board of Directors for American Gas and Welding, which has 88 retail and production locations throughout the U.S.

“Philip brings a unique business background and an unparalleled passion to serve our military and our country,” said Bill Roby, Board Chairman for USA Cares. “We are blessed to have such a patriotic individual now serving on our board.”

Scott is an avid motorcyclist and a member of the Kentucky Patriot Guard Riders. In his spare time, he enjoys participating in rides that focus on a charitable mission, where he has an opportunity to give back to veterans and active-duty service members. In addition to USA Cares, Scott is also an active supporter of the 7 Stars Foundation.
