Operation Brave Boxer
USA Cares Volunteers Sharing the Sacrifice
The Mission of Operation Brave Boxer is to provide clean undergarments, hygiene items, phone cards and postage to the service members who arrive at Military Medical facilities. Service members who medivac into these facilities consistently arrive in hospital gowns or with their clothing cut away from them to treat their injuries. Some do not have their first visitor for days, weeks and some single service members have no family to run errands for them at all.
Providing them with clean undergarments, hygiene items and a phone card to call home lets them know that someone was thinking about them, before they even arrived.
Service members are sometimes flown into hospitals with nothing; some go home in a hospital gown, and some with lost limbs. These personal items are a way to show that we are out here and we care.
Your mission if you choose to accept it:
- Collect some or all of the following: Boxer shorts, undershirts, hygiene items, toiletries, phone cards, postage stamps, stationary, magazines, puzzle books, and the like—remember that service members may be male or female—click here for a complete list of items
- Help us find donors by contacting local retailers or researching companies and ask them to support our efforts
- Have your group or organization prepare handwritten notes and enclose them in the package. (Hospitals will not accept sealed envelopes)
- Once the items are collected, send group photos for our website with the name of your group and individuals
- If you need a tax receipt please submit a receipt with the value of the items donated
Send items to:
